During a trip to the grocery store last week, I met a friend I haven’t seen in awhile. She was with her mom, who was in a wheelchair. I asked my friend how she was. Without hesitation, she said, “Terrible.” She had been living with her mother, who has dementia, managing her father’s care in a skilled nursing facility, and stopping in to see her husband and son every day for a few minutes.
I asked if she wanted help from a professional caregiver. “Absolutely,” she said.
I connected her to a friend, whose husband just died, who wanted to find a job for the professional caregiver who helped her.
Fingers crossed that my friend and the professional caregiver will be a good fit and my friend will have help so she can finally get some sleep.
Our network of colleagues, friends and family members can be an incredible resource. Sharing the expertise and skills of the network can create wins for everyone.
Let’s focus this week on making connections that could benefit two or more people. We can set the intention for this kind of effective match-making by asking this question as we start our day:
Who can I connect?
You have connections that can deliver value to others. When you share that value, you give value to all.
Who will you connect?
