I’m writing my next book, which takes a closer look at the weariness we experience during a caring life. In order to heal from our compassion fatigue, we must get specific about what exhausts us.
This morning I woke up thinking about decision fatigue. We make so many decisions for and about another that we can get soooo tired of facing another choice. When it’s time to make a decision about what we need and want, we might feel we just don’t have the energy.
We also might ruminate over how we feel about a past decision. Was that the right decision, the best decision? The self-doubt about decisions can exhaust us, too.
This week, let’s begin our day with the question, “What’s the right decision for me today?” Let’s face our decisions with calm confidence that we can choose the best way for ourselves today. Once we decide, we can move on with the knowledge that we can tweak and revise any decision at any time in our future. We also can use our past experiences to help us form the best decision today.
This week, let’s learn from our past in order to choose wisely today so that we can move forward into our future.
