I’m in a partnership that includes team members who don’t want to make changes. They want to maintain the status quo, even though the status quo became irrelevant 10 years ago.
I can’t begin to tell you how crazy this makes me.
I needed to stop the crazy so decided to ask myself this question whenever I interact with the team: What’s my opportunity?
When I stop reacting to what drives me nuts and instead decide I can find a win, I feel much, much better during the interaction. My opportunities happen outside this team, which means I have control over the look, relevance and impact of the opportunity. I have limited control within my interactions with the team. But my interactions with the team can create opportunities in other areas of my work. I need to focus on that.
So, this week at the start of my day, I’m going to ask myself: What’s my opportunity?
What’s your opportunity?
