I just finished two projects yesterday — I replaced my cable box and a toilet seat. Earlier this year, I completed my next book, which I’ll release next month. The act of completing is awesome.
Let’s begin each day this week with the question, “What will I finish today?”
We may put off completing a project because it’s a bother. Who wants to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon replacing a toilet seat? We may procrastinate because finishing the book means we have to put ourselves out there and potentially face rejection. What if no one likes my book? Fear can truly keep us in the project. Courage will help us complete it.
If we spend too much time in limbo because we can’t or won’t complete, then we lose the opportunity to grow and learn and improve. I learn so much from the readers who react to my book, which will only make my next book better. Changing that toilet seat gave me the confidence that I can complete the next task I’ve never done before.
In addition, fretting about finishing wastes our time. Completing means we use our time well.
Let’s complete so we can move on to the next project. We have much work to do, much impact to make. When we finish, we can begin.
This week, what will you finish?
