Last fall, after my father died, I had the opportunity to attend in-person events again.
It was fabulous to show up at events that attracted individuals passionate about the same topics as I. The conversations and relationships I developed by attending these events have become opportunities for collaboration. I attended one event which has led to multiple opportunities.
Let’s commit to attending virtual and in-person events this week so that we can gain knowledge, deepen a relationship with a friend or family member, and expand our network. Even better: Let’s show at an event hosted by a colleague or that means a great deal to a family member. Our presence brings comfort as another does something courageous.
We can remind ourselves to show up by asking ourselves this question to start the day: “What event can I attend?”
Which events will you attend this week?
I will be attending a few virtual meetings this week - an accountability group for my patients and caregivers business, a public consultation for a national caregiving strategy (Canada), and and info session for an advocacy organization for immunocompromised patients.
These opportunities have come about through participating in other groups and webinars - as well as seeing these and other things promoted on social media.
I will be sure to connect with a few more people! Thanks for writing this - I'm going to add an overview of upcoming events to my weekly printed organizer and not just leave things on my google calendar. I am finding that mapping things out on paper is more helpful for me.
