I gave thought this past week to “owning.”
The musings gave me a helpful perspective.
I made a mistake last week that really upset me. As I worked to fix it, I felt so much self-judgement. The mistake didn’t need to happen. I simply trusted a process that always worked until it didn’t.
I felt better when I owned the mistake. I’m human. I trusted a process that worked well until it didn’t.
I also thought about my emotions, which ranged from upset to frustration to anger to discouragement, last week. Just writing how I felt — owning the emotions — makes me feel better.
Rather than dismissing or minimizing or ignoring or judging, I feel better owning. It’s mine.
I like that. When I own it, I lead through my day. I make faster decisions, leave drama behind more quickly, say what’s important, decline what I don’t want, use time wisely and look forward to make progress.
This week, let’s own what happens during our day — the good and the bad. We can remind ourselves by asking this question to start our day: “What can I own?”
What do you own?
