The older I get, the more time tempts me to remember what I’d like to forget: Selfish actions, inconsiderate words, terrible choices from my past. Memories when I wasn’t a good friend or a helpful colleague can really torment me.
When I start to remember, I remind myself: Forward. Forward! Go forward and be better.
When I go forward, I can make better choices. If I stay stuck in the memories, I lose that opportunity.
Forward.
We can remind ourselves to keep moving ahead by asking ourselves this question to start our day: “How will I go forward?”
This question can help us:
set boundaries in our relationships. We can go forward with clear boundaries.
commit to improving our actions, words and choices. We can go forward to create better moments and memories.
use our time wisely. We can go forward after offering an apology, for instance. We can move into our next moment rather than staying stuck in a moment that’s gone.
How will you move forward?
