Last week, I connected with an individual who is spearheading an initiative to better support family caregivers.
During our conversation, he told me that the number solution we should resolve is how we talk about our caregiving experience, that we spend too much time talking about the challenges. “We have to change the narrative,” he said.
His comments left me so mad that I changed the theme of this month’s Soul Break from taking a break from mistakes to taking a break from someone who tells us “we have to change the narrative.”
During that Soul Break, I posed a question: How do you want to frame a situation or experience? That inspired this week’s Sunday Question: “How can I frame this?”
We can pose this question as we begin the day to remind ourselves we can frame our:
Suggestions
Ideas
Positions
Conversations
Perspectives
Experiences
Situations
We can choose our own narrative by deciding how to frame it.
What will you frame?

The conversation with my colleague also inspired me to create a survey to better understand the solutions you need (or needed) when caring for a family member. I’d love for you to share your thoughts and experiences. The survey will take about less than five minutes.
