I recently listened to a podcast about the morning habits of successful leaders. One habit, making a commitment, takes our typical idea of setting intentions to the next level. Typically, intentions put us in a moment of success, like “I give an incredible, powerful TED Talk.” A more realistic intention is actually a commitment. A commitment can sound like, “I am committed to delivering three presentations every month to I create the best presentation possible which could become a TED Talk.”
This week, you can start your day with the question, “What’s my commitment today?” During the holidays, this question can help you commit to making memorable moments even during this challenging season. A commitment could be:
“I commit to thanking every grocery store employee I encounter.”
“I commit to calling as many family members as possible today.”
“I commit to giving myself time to rest today.”
To what will you commit?
